Turning Your Android Phone Into A Digital Photo Frame

Why not use your phone to examine the photos you have in your Google Photos app if you don’t know what to do with them? You can utilize your Android phone’s screensaver feature to turn your phone’s screen into a digital photo frame while it’s charging in just a few simple steps.

This is especially useful for phones that support wireless charging (allowing you to view your images while charging), but it will work with any charging method or if your phone is connected to a docking station. It’s a simple and convenient way to show off some of your greatest photographs, and it’s incorporated directly into the operating system.

For the instructions below, I used a Motorola Moto G Stylus (2022), but the process is fairly similar on a Samsung or Pixel phone. To display photos in a Google Photos album, you must first have them.

• Go to Display > Settings.
• Select Screen saver after pressing Advanced to display further menu options (if necessary).
• Select the Google Photos app icon from the Current screen saver menu. This will return you to the screen saver’s main menu page. Then, next to Current screen saver, press the gear symbol.
• You can change several choices here, such as whether the animated zoom effect is enabled or disabled. Choose your Google account to see a list of your Google Photographs albums and choose which photos the screensaver will show. (You can also get a list of the albums that are currently installed on your device.) Mark the ones you want to add with a checkbox.
• Return to the screen saver main menu page and select When to start to determine when the screensaver will activate – when charging, docked, or both.
• To see what it will look like, return to the screen saver main menu page and press Start now (or Insight).

• Photos that are vertically oriented will obviously be the best.
• Choose photographs with the subject in the centre; otherwise, they may be cropped out completely.
• Turning off the “Fill screen with photos” option will help if you have a lot of horizontally oriented photos, but your images will appear little on your screen.

The screensaver will always begin with the first photo in the album and display the photos in the sequence in which the album is organized. You can make an auto-updating album if that seems a little too repetitious. Here’s how to do it:

• In Google Photos, make a new album. You create a new album by pressing the Library button at the bottom of the screen and selecting the addition sign. Alternatively, go to the same Library tab and select an album from the list.
• Give your new album a name, then tap Select people and pets under Add Photos. Select the scrapbook subjects you want to include. Google will recognize them in new photographs posted to Google Photos and add them to your album automatically.
• If you’re working with an existing album, tap the three dots in the top-right corner, click Choice, and then tap the plus symbol next to Automatically add images to add the individuals you wish to include. If you wish to double-check, you can also add existing photos.
• When your screen saver starts, new photographs will show at the beginning of the album, so they will be the first to appear.
