Spotify’s live audio Greenroom app has been renamed Spotify Live and integrated into the main Spotify app.
In a statement announcing the rebranding, Spotify said, “This shift represents our belief in the future of live-audio creators and live experiences being given to all 406 million Spotify subscribers around the world.”
For the time being, creators are limited to a few podcasters and musicians who have Spotify shows and tracks.
Listeners can access live programming from the creator’s podcast or artist page, but they must use the separate redesigned Spotify Live app to engage in the chat or join the host onstage.
Independent creators who wish to go live on the Spotify Live app must do so as well.
The rebranding will be highlighted in some special programming, including:
“Late Friday night, April 15, Spotify will present a unique, first-of-its-kind event with Swedish House Mafia live from the desert.”
As part of Spotify’s celebration of Swedish House Mafia’s reunion and the release of their new album, Paradise Again, fans in certain regions will be able to listen to a live DJ performance on the band’s artist page.
Don’t miss out on this one because you’ll only be able to hear it live.”
DJ Akademiks is a well-known talk show host, and his podcast, Off the Record with DJ Akademiks, is now available on Spotify.
On April 12 at 12:30 p.m. EST, he and special guest Waka Flocka Flame will explore the current status of music, entertainment, and society. Also, keep an eye out for upcoming live shows.
