What To Expect At Apple’s March 8 ‘Peek Performance’

Apple sent out invitations for its next keynote presentation, “Peek Performance,” on Tuesday. The keynote will begin at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET on Tuesday, March 8, with the event beginning at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET. It’ll be another all-virtual event, streamed live on Apple’s website.

The March 8 event has been the subject of rumours and speculation, and based on the invitation, Apple is certainly going to show off something with increased performance. Perhaps a new MacBook Air? iPad? So, we’ve come up with a few suggestions.

A majority of the material shown below comes from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, as outlined in his weekly “Power On” newsletter. Gurman, in fact, was the first to report that the event would take place on March 8.

Apple Has Released A New iPhone SE With 5G Technology

The last time Apple updated the $399 iPhone SE was in April of 2020, so an update to the entry-level model now makes logical. According to Gurman, Apple will unveil an iPhone SE that will look similar to the present model, including the home button, but will include a faster processor, 5G connection, and a better camera.

According to a new source, Apple plans to maintain the 2020 iPhone SE in its range but lower the price to $199, making it the lowest iPhone model ever. The move would be targeted mostly at emerging regions, where low-cost Android phones are the norm.

iPad Air Is A New iPad Model

Thanks to regulatory filings, we’ve seen some evidence that Apple is working on new iPad models, which is backed up by Gurman’s storey.

The iPad Air is now the only tablet in Apple’s portfolio that lacks Apple’s Center Stage front-camera feature, which changes the zoom level to keep you and anybody else who joins or departs a video conference in the shot. Software and a 12-megapixel FaceTime camera work together to make this capability possible.

Apple’s A15 processor, as well as 5G connectivity, are expected to be included in the upcoming iPad Air.

The iPad Air was last updated in September of 2020, and while Apple has previously gone considerably longer than 18 months between updates for the iPad Air, it’s understandable that Apple would want to provide feature parity to the iPad Air.

Are There Any New Macs?

Over the last two years, Apple has continued to convert its entire Mac portfolio from Intel to Apple Silicon CPUs. While Gurman claims that there will be no major announcements about new Apple Silicon processors during the March presentation,

The MacBook Air, Mac Mini, and 13-inch MacBook Pro are now the only Mac models that employ the M1 Apple Silicon CPU. Apple, on the other hand, has updated its MacBook Pro series with the M1 Max and M1 Pro, as well as a new look.

With that in mind, it’s only natural that the MacBook Air and Mac Mini get a new processor. Which processor are you using? That section is a bit hazy. That will have to wait until Apple makes an announcement.

iOS 15.4 And iPad OS 15.4 Are Now Available

Apple has published the developer and public beta versions of iOS 15.4 and iPad OS 15.4 for the iPhone, which offer a number of new features. Owners of a recent iPhone with FaceID can now unlock their phone while wearing a mask or facial covering, without the need for an Apple Watch.

Tap to Pay for iPhone turns the iPhone into a payment kiosk that accepts payments using any NFC-enabled payment method, including Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, and contactless payment credit or debit cards.

Apple should distribute the latest software updates for all of its devices along with the new hardware.
