Tiktok’s Snapchat-Like Tales Are Expanding To New Users

TikTok is expanding its Stories feature pilot, which the platform said was under testing last summer.

TikTok Stories, like Instagram stories, have a 24-hour lifespan before being automatically destroyed. They may be watched by going to a user’s profile and clicking their profile image. On the For You page, stories appear to be emerging as well.

You can see how many people watched your story as the poster. You can’t see who viewed it, unlike Instagram. However, unlike Instagram, where commenters can only reply to the poster directly in a private message, you can like a story and make a public comment.

To share a story, tap the “post” button in the app’s bottom center navigation bar. Then scroll down to a “quick” camera mode, where you can publish a photo or video to your tale. These films offer the same editing features as regular TikTok videos, including the ability to respond to comments, apply filters, and more.

Photos don’t have nearly the same functionality as videos — you don’t need a recording timer for a photo because, well, it’s a photo — but they may still be enhanced with music and effects.

Digging In More Details

This functionality will not be available to all users at this time. According to our tests, if you don’t have the functionality, you won’t be able to see stories that people who do have the feature have uploaded. We were able to access the feature through our account in the United States, but users in the United Kingdom have also reported having access to articles.

“Right now, we’re expanding a pilot program that gives creators more ways to bring their creative ideas to life for the TikTok community,” a TikTok representative told TechCrunch.
