West of the Forbidden Horizon The game’s February 18 release date is approaching, but if you’re planned on purchasing a digital copy of the game to play on your PS5, you should hold off for a second before clicking the buy button. While there are bargains for $69.99 on this landing page, such as B., you should know that the normal edition of Horizon Forbidden West on PS4 is $10 less and includes a free upgrade to the PS5 version.
Despite initially offering a free upgrade, Sony confirmed in September that the game would not have a PS4-to-PS5 upgrade option, and Sony was quick to respond to fan criticism. “Players who bought Horizon Forbidden West on PlayStation 4 can upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version for free,” PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan explained on the PlayStation Blog.
Despite that guarantee, when looking at the Horizon forbidden west products on the Sony website, it’s not immediately evident that an upgrade is possible. The $69.99 version is at the top of the landing page, and you’ll have to scroll down a bit to locate the cheaper PS4 version. Despite the fact that a box directly over the ball implies it works on PS5, this PS4 list has a bullet point to highlight that it only works on PS4. (To be fair, the PS5 box could simply be indicating that the PS4 version of the game will work on the PS5.)
In addition, the PS4-specific store listing for the Horizon forbidden west Standard Edition doesn’t state that you get a free upgrade to the PS5. And Sony’s own support page about it Horizon forbidden west is not up to date; currently it is said that you have to buy the more expensive versions Horizon forbidden west access both the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game, which due to Ryan’s promise, isn’t the case. Sony did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
So if you’re looking to save a few bucks on your next one Horizon forbidden west Purchase, consider getting the standard edition PS4 version instead. But grab it on the Sony website or in the PlayStation app – I couldn’t find the PS4 listing on my PS5.
