At Apple’s ‘Far Out’ presentation on September 7, the tech giant announced a new iPhone: the iPhone 14 Plus, with a 6.7-inch display.
Everyone has an iPhone 14, right? Not convinced. The new iPhone Plus model may make the iPhone Mini obsolete. Since there’s no iPhone 14 Mini.
The iPhone SE (2022) has a 4.7-inch screen and is tiny. Big bezels make it look dated to me. The iPhone 13 Mini from 2021 has a 5.4-inch screen and is still pocket-friendly.
The iPhone 14 Plus will have a large market because its 6.7-inch display is the average size of a phone today.
It’s arguably what entry-level iPhone fans have been clamoring for in the quest for greater battery life and more screen real-estate – the Plus has the same screen size as the iPhone 13 Pro Max, but won’t cost as much. It’s a selling point.
The iPhone 14 Plus also boasts Emergency SOS via satellite (free for two years, then a fee) and a new 12-megapixel main camera with a bigger sensor than its predecessor.
But not the next-gen step-up of the higher-resolution iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models.
What’s the iPhone 14 Plus price? US pricing is $899, AUD$1,579, and UK cost is TBC. Pre-orders start on 9 September, with availability on 7 October — a few weeks after the conventional iPhone 14.
If you want a compact phone, consider the iPhone 13, which is cheaper (check the widget below).
