Apple Music’s Student Plan Costs Extra In The US, UK, And Canada

According to 9to5Mac, Apple Music has raised the cost of its student plan subscriptions in the US, UK, and Canada (above TechCrunch). Students in the UK should anticipate a similar increase from £4.99 to £5.99/month, while the cost will rise from $4.99 to $5.99/month in the US and Canada.

Although Apple hasn’t officially announced the adjustments yet, the revised pricing details are already visible on Apple Music’s website. Students who have Apple Music subscriptions have begun to see the price hike on their iPhones and iPads’ subscription pages.

It’s unclear exactly when Apple applied these changes, however 9to5Mac notes that it was probably introduced between June 21 and June 23, given the old student price of £4.99 is still visible on the archived Apple Music website on June 21.

In May, Apple discreetly hiked the subscription cost for students in a number of nations.

Until recently, Apple Music’s student plan—reserved for students attending college or university—was the least expensive, most feature-rich package available. The monthly costs for the $9.99 Individual and $14.99 Family plans, as well as the $4.99 Voice plan, remain the same.

Although students may view the voice plan as a way to save money, it offers less access to Apple Music because you can only use Siri to manage it.

Digging In More Details

The price increase for Apple Music extends beyond simply the US, UK, and Canada. In a number of nations, including Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Israel, and Kenya, Apple discreetly hiked the membership cost for students last month. Apple did not immediately answer to The edge’s request for comment, so it is unknown whether the company has plans to raise student tuition in further nations.
